During travel to different cities, I like to observe the amazing world of public transportation! Metro system and its escalators in the capital city of Russia, Moscow, are one of my last subjects!
Metro by design is the city under the city, providing the necessary transportation for millions of city dwellers each day. The street traffic in Moscow is insane and getting from one place to another by car is just a pain.
Metro system in Moscow provides much-needed congestion relief for the city inhabitants and for tourists – a quick way to move around and another attraction in itself.
One very important piece of the metro system in any city are the escalators allowing the passengers to get to the metro platform.
In Moscow, the escalators are very long and very distinctive. Almost every single one metro station in Moscow is unique and I am not afraid to say that every single escalator system is unique too.
There are at least three sets of escalators in each station. They move fast and get passengers quickly down and from the platform. You can appreciate the fast moving escalator during the rush hours! 🙂
Please enjoy the photos and I will blog about the stations and trains next!
Oh, by the way, I did not see a single broken escalator! D.C. metro should take lessons! 🙂
